Thank you for your purchase of our SinuPulse irrigator. Maintenance is very simple only requiring rinsing the unit after each use to remove any residual saline or salt deposits from the water tank and unit. The majority of the time any loss of pressure, water flow, or clogging is a result of saline corrosion, calcification or hard water deposits which may have formed within the unit or in the tip itself. Saline and other nasal wash additives can be highly corrosive and contribute to premature wear. It is very important to ensure that the unit is rinsed with a tank of clean water after each use and that any saline solution or residue that may have spilled on the unit is wiped clean. Salt residue should not be allowed to build up inside the water tank or on the outer housing especially around the control knobs and power button. If you take the following steps and perform them regularly, as needed, it will keep the unit working well especially if you live in a hard water area.

 


Cleaning Tips and Maintenance

 

If the motor is running but the solution is not pumping this is generally a very easy fix and is outlined within the user guide at the bottom of the trouble shooting chart. Generally, all you need to do to restore the seal and water pressure is lubricate the small black O-ring located on the outside bottom of the water tank (fig.1) to ensure a good seal when placed on top of the SinuPulse. It is made of material designed to be resistant to the drying effect of saline and other additives but over time the O-ring may loose lubrication contributing to difficulty seating the water tank securely which may result in reduced or interrupted water flow. This can be easily corrected with a very small application of Vaseline around the O-ring. A periodic application once or twice a year will ensure optimum results. Be sure to rinse the water tank thoroughly after each use to remove any salt deposits and allow to air dry.

How to Decalcify and Disinfect the SinuPulse (Recommended monthly)


Step 1


Start with a diluted vinegar solution 1 part vinegar 2 parts water. If this is not sufficient simply increase the level of vinegar in the cleaning solution. If necessary you can even use straight vinegar.

 

Step 2


Be sure to rinse the tank with a small amount of the vinegar solution and be sure to clean the area around  the white valve in the bottom of the tank. Look for any calcification, salt, or mineral deposits which might form under the valve. You can easily remove the valve for better cleaning. It is also advisable to wipe down the outer housing after each use to ensure any salt residue is kept to a minimum.

 

Step 3


Insert the vinegar solution into the handle opening where the Sinus tip is inserted and allow to soak for 20-30 minutes.

 

Step 4


Fill the water tank halfway with the solution and place the sinus tip inside the water tank so that the solution will recirculate and run for 60 seconds.

 

Step 5


Remove the tip so the handle is empty, fill the water tank with warm water, and hold the wand (handle) over the sink without a tip in place. Turn the unit on and allow the water to come out of the handle. Push on the pause control button on the handle a few times to loosen up any residue that may have formed in this area as well.

 

Step 6


Soak the sinus tip itself in the vinegar  solution to remove any mineral deposits which may have formed within the tip as well. You can remove the silicone bulb for better access to the stem. Be careful to pull the nasal bulb slowly straight off so as not to break the stem.

 

Following the steps outlined above will in most cases eliminate any residue which may be contributing to some clogging which can reduce or interrupt the flow rate and ensure proper operation.
